🏆 Playmaker of the Week: Christian Humphreys (Kitchener Rangers, COL)

Creating space. Finding lanes. Finishing plays.

Christian Humphreys (Instagram) isn’t just hot — he’s producing at a pace that puts him among the OHL’s elite. The Kitchener Rangers forward has racked up 10 points in his last four games and sits 13th in OHL scoring with 21 points (6G, 15A) in 14 games.

📈 Heating Up

After an impressive showing at the Colorado Avalanche 2025 Rookie Showcase — scoring twice and earning buzz at main camp as one of the team’s “most improved prospects” — Humphreys carried that momentum right into the OHL season.

He’s been electric since, leading Kitchener in scoring and producing across situations: six goals and fifteen assists, including two power-play goals and seven assists with the man advantage.

That surge — 10 points in four games (3G, 7A) — sealed his Playmaker of the Week honors.

🎯 How He’s Doing It

Humphreys isn’t just piling up points — he’s dictating the pace of play. His blend of patience, deception, and dual-threat scoring touch makes him one of the league’s toughest matchups.

1️⃣ Creating Space
He manipulates defenders with shoulder fakes and changes of speed, forcing them to commit before slipping pucks into seams or accelerating through open lanes.

2️⃣ Dual Threat
Humphreys can burn you as both a shooter and a playmaker. His quick-release wrister is deceptive and his one-timer is lethal — heavy and accurate. Add in his knack for slipping crisp feeds through tight seams, and he’s a threat to create or finish on every shift.

3️⃣ Poised Under Pressure
Whether it’s 5-on-5 or on the power play, he holds pucks that extra half-second — reading coverage and waiting for lanes to open. That composure under pressure is what consistently tilts the ice in his favor.

🧠 Development Arc

Humphreys has thrived at every level. After dominating AAA hockey and producing more than a point per game his last season with the U.S. National Team Development Program, he was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in 2024 and later joined Kitchener after a brief NCAA stint.

He finished last season with 33 points in 28 games with Kitchener and has exploded early this year, showing the confidence and consistency scouts hoped for.
