In this drill from Coach Jeremy, the player works through a three-cone pattern designed to develop controlled pivots and escapes, quick footwork, and puck handling through changes of direction.

The setup is simple, but the details matter:

While this type of drill is especially valuable for defensemen working on escapes, retrievals, and creating separation from pressure, the same skating ability is critical for forwards. Every player benefits from being able to change direction confidently, protect the puck, and create space without losing speed or control.
